Community Development Volunteers for Technical Assistance

Community Development Volunteers for Technical Assistance (CDVTA) is Cameroon’s leading organization serving elders in the English-speaking part of the country. It has a proven record of excellence for 21 years of elder-driven work. CDVTA supports elder rights and providing assistance in improving Elder livelihoods through community-based initiatives. CDVTA works with disadvantaged elderly men and women, in hard to reach poor communities; areas characterized by extreme poverty, high migration of labour and government neglect. CDVTAs activities empower elders, their families, dependent children and communities towards improved livelihoods and wellbeing. CDVTA eldercare work is a combination of a grassroots implementation of older people’s groups at rural community levels, supported by strategic advocacy, sustainable livelihoods, welfare, resource mobilization for sustainability and organizational development.

The presence of over 650 elderly groups (social clubs) and participation in activities at all levels, and the improvements that improved livelihoods, improved well-being and social care activities bring to individual elders and community lives, strengthens the rights of the elderly. This strategy provides an example for other stakeholders to see, that social mobilization of elders at home based grassroots level, by elders themselves supported by community volunteers is possible; that it is possible to improve elderly livelihoods and well-being, and that they can work together to exercise their rights to improved social security and social protection. On the other hand, advocacy to the authorities is the mechanism by which those gains might be replicated in other parts of the world where elderly people face similar problems.

WD International Consulting

WD International Consulting (WDI) provides support through coaching, mentoring, and educating individuals, groups and teams in order to create the results they want and need to be successful. We are passionate about supporting and facilitating the growth and development of individuals and organizations. We understand individuals participate in professional development experiences and often lack the support needed to plan, practice and implement what they learn.

We have spent our careers working in organizations and with people (staff and boards) who want to focus on excellence, however, have not been intentional in making the changes needed to be successful. With twelve years of experience in developing and facilitating a statewide leadership academy as well as certifying over 600 new Eden Associates to become change agents in their organizations, we are aware of the gaps in the development of individuals and implementing new practices. This is especially true when tied to an organization’s ability to change to person-centered, innovative programs and practices.

Building on our knowledge and experiences gained through various senior management positions, we utilize a variety of tools, materials and resources to support individuals and organizations in addressing staff development and retention. WD International will develop a customized plan for each client.

The Global Ageing Network

International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA) dba The Global Ageing Network (GAN) is an international network of leaders in ageing services, housing, research, technology and design. We bring together experts from around the world, lead education initiatives and provide a place for innovative ideas in senior care to be born. We pave the way to improve best practices in aged care so that older people everywhere can live healthier, stronger, more independent lives. The Global Ageing Network was founded as the International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing (IAHSA) in 1994 by an international group of leaders who realized that the global ageing phenomenon would have a profound impact on our earth’s elders. Their vision was to create a platform for policymakers, researchers, business and ageing services providers to collectively share their knowledge and best practices to enhance quality of care for the elderly. Over the years, The Global Ageing Network has created an international forum for the exchange of research, services, products and training that make up the Global Ageing Network. Donations to CDVTA (Eldercare Cameroon in the US) can be made via the Global Ageing Network.
