Do you believe in Cameroonian magic?
We do.
In the fall of 2016, a chance meeting took place at the Global Ageing conference in Perth Australia. Two individuals from opposite parts of the world and from opposite parts of the social spectrum wound up on the same education panel. That chance meeting has led to this remarkable journey.
Welcome to the Cameroon Dream, the ultimate personification of "It Takes a Village"
Francis from Cameroon, a warrior for social justice, has spent 20 years building an organization in Cameroon driven to change the opportunities for women and the elderly in his magnificent homeland. Putting his life on the line, his organization has changed tens of thousands of lives in Cameroon, but the work has just begun. His message and power derive from educating his countrymen as to how to sustain their own lives.
Jack York is the co-founder of a technology company based in the United States - It's Never 2 Late (www.iN2L.com). Through his sacrifices in starting the company, although pale in comparison to the struggles Francis endured, iN2L has also changed tens of thousands of lives over their 20 year existence, connecting older adults, particularly people living with dementia, to the positive power of engagement technology. What started as a simple $500 donation from iN2L to CDVTA has blossomed into a collaborative effort connecting senior living communities and citizens of the United States to villagers in Cameroon, enriching lives on both sides of the continent. Multiple projects have either been completed or are on the way to completion, all driven to improve the lives of the magnificent Cameroonians. Along the way new partners have emerged. WD Intl has become a partner in this endeavor starting in 2018. The first meeting between Francis and Jack took place at the Global Ageing Conference, that organization has become the 501C3 organization managing the funds with CDVTA. The journey is just beginning, we welcome you onto the bus!
